In the Year 2005-2006
■ Wellspring received a $1,000,000 allocation in the Kentucky state budget, which represents two-year funding for the operation costs to open a second psychiatric Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). This marks the first time Wellspring has received a direct, line item appropriation from the General Assembly.
■ The Board of Directors and staff developed and adopted a five-year strategic plan to build on Wellspring’s strengths and to strategize for aggressive growth in two areas: the opening of a second CSU facility, and the development of 70 additional units of supportive housing.
■ The Wellspring CSU received the prestigious Philip P. Ardery Award from the Mental Health Association of Kentucky at its annual statewide meeting. The award honored ten years of leadership and excellence in the provision of community based, residential psychiatric crisis stabilization services.
■ The Wellspring Derby Preview Party generated new funds and friends for the agency through its eighth annual signature charity Derby event. The record attendance was highlighted by the generosity of those contributing to the “Bid for Recovery,” which contributes directly to Wellspring’s programs of supports and services.
